History
The Illinois Bicentennial design is a commemorative emblem used for the state’s 200th anniversary in 2018 rather than an officially adopted state flag. Unveiled in 2017, it was used on banners, merchandise, and ceremonial displays. Its imagery highlights Illinois’s bicentennial through the numeral “200,” marks the years 1818 and 2018, and uses twenty-one stars to represent Illinois as the 21st state admitted to the Union.
